James Davies BMus LRAM PG Dip


James graduated at the Royal Academy of Music in 2008 with a BMus, LRAM and Post Graduate degrees. While at the Academy, James held principal chairs in the Concert Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble, Symphonic Brass Ensemble, Brass Soloist and Opera Ensembles. Under the tuition of James Watson, Rod Franks, Robert Farley, John Hutch, Mark David and Paul Archibald, James explored different areas of study from classical repertoire through to contemporary theatre. He also was award the Leverhulme Orchestral Mentorship Scheme and The Bloden Cosslett Leyshon Prize during his Post Graduate studies.

On a professional level, James has performed with Peter Maxwell Davies, Colin Davis, Howard Williams, Christopher Adey, Robert Childs, Brass section from the London Mozart Players, Orchestra of Age & Enlightenment, leading west end directors, S4C appearance with his Brass ensemble, Apollo Chamber Orchestra, LSO recording session, "Trumpet" stage Show by Jackie Kay (west end), commerical recording with Alexander Oneil (pop singer), London Philharmonic Orchestra Future First scheme, joint project with Academy and London Sinfonietta and Menier Chocolate Facotry production of Take Flight under the Musical Direction of Caroline Humphris, also includes Angel Studios commerical recording. Recent Television performances include Mc Fly live on the BBC National Lottery and Noels HQ Big Band Project on Sky 1.

Commissioned brass arrangements include: Chicago the Musical for brass by Rod Franks LSO, Serigferd-Idlly – Richard Wagner recorded by the Royal Academy of Music brass department, James Newton-Howard film scores for RAM Graduation Ceremony Music, China Tour in July 2008 and recently arrangements for RAM Opera Brass concert featuring Katie Hockenhull, Peter Davoren & Gareth John. Recent transcriptions projects inculde the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Rottendam Philharmonic Orchetra and various commerical adaptations for Daniel Koek & Helen Colby live concert in 2009.
